Cargill
Cargill, based in manchester employs over 300 people and is involved in the production of UK sweeteners, industrial starches and is the production facility for the UKs food and beverage industry. The HR department at Cargill reported an increasing number of individuals on sick leave due to musculoskeletal disorders of the wrists and hands. Cargill contacted TxOH to investagate the options available to help reduce absenteeism.
The intervention
Following a consultation with TxOH Cargill agreed an onsite physiotherapy clinic would be beneficial to its employees and therefore reduce the risk of absenteeism. A team of physiotherapists attended the Cargill site once a week to allow employees time to ask for advice, assessments and treatments. The physiotherapists also provided graduated return to work programmes for those already on sick leave.
The results
Six weeks following the introduction of onsite physiotherapy clinic at Cargill the record of absenteeism levels due to musculoskeletal injuries had dropped significantly. Our team of physiotherapists continue to provide services to manufacturers within Liverpool and Manchester on a regular basis to improve absenteeism levels.
